In light of posts I made yesterday about the hollowness of community on social networking sites due to a sandbox effect (a la Rex). Interestingly enough, recently the Web Community Forum launched, which will hopefully answer some of these questions. You can check up on them on and join their community at My Blog Log. Perhaps this will also address the issue of participation inequality.

I certainly hope that we can shed some light on the space.
You’ve got some interesting thoughts about the division of content creation and consumption on the web and about what “community” means vs. what it really should mean.
I think as Facebook develops and as social blogging tools continue to morph, we’ll see more and more opportunities to feel part of real communities online.
