Will 2008 be the year of the editor? Yet another argument for web content aggregation

January 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

I was reading Jackson’s blog today, a local Nashville technology theorist, business owner, and application developer.  He points out that seven percent of individuals in the US are blogging, in addition to all those who are using Flickr, MySpace, and Facebook.  He also highlights:

I think I have written before about an idea of editors creating new magazines / periodicals. Instead of hiring staff writers, why not hire great editors to find the best content and glue it together in a clear and coherent package.

This is truly what the next step of the social media revolution is.  Aggregation of the best in personal data, so that I don’t have to waste time finding it.  It seizes the moment in community, re-mix culture, and collaboration.  And collaboration is truly the sweet spot of the social web. Now I just hope someone can aggregate all my social media profiles in one nifty packet.
