Best Bands and Events for 2008 GMAs (April 19-23 Nashville TN)

April 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

Who do you want to see this year for GMAs? Who are the best bands to see for GMAs in 2008? Or what events will rock for GMAs Music Week 2008? Any independent christian artists or showcases you want to see?

Personally I’m looking forward to seeing Eowyn perform once again. I’ll be stoked to see Eowyn perform. I’m also hoping to also catch ilia along with the Flicker monday night lineup at Mercy Lounge (one the best music venues for live music Nashville). I’m sure the GMAs will rock Nashville in 2008.

The Tennessean reports that John Styll President of the Gospel Music Association:

…predicted highlights of the week to include sessions from Ken Blanchard on “Leading Like Jesus,” a presentation from David Ross about embracing change, sessions on digital music and an artist symposium on the global impact of Christian Music.

“Christian music is making a difference around the globe,” Styll said.

During the symposium, artists including Steven Curtis Chapman, Natalie Grant, Rebecca St. James and Phil Stacey will speak about the charities they support and why they feel compelled to use their fame to bring awareness to the organizations.

The week culminates with the GMA Dove Awards, which Styll promises will offer “some special moments.”

“We’re going to have most of the new artists of the year nominees on the show,” he said. “The biggest artists our industry has will be on, like Casting Crowns, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, and it’s a show that really reflects the diversity of this community.

“You’ll see rock bands, country music, and Southern gospel music.”
