How do you successfully do that? Social networking is a very powerful way to implement that business strategy. And between work, home, friends and play your time is very short supply, so its critically important to focus.

Basically, you want to be where your customers are hanging out and where you can easily connect with potential customers who hopefully share your interests. The best way to do target your customer audience is to focus on top social networks like Facebook, Linked In, and Twitter. [once you've explored those, branching out to others on a selective basis makes sense]

    Look forward to hear what you say about Twitter, as with some of our clients they aren’t really in the niche where they can offer customer support or help sell products via the site like some companies.

    However, I’m sure there is an angle for them somewhere just maybe I’m missing it.

    Agreed. Only valuable if you can be marketed to a tech savvy audience that inhabits twitter.

    Startups, particularly in tech and related industries **might** benefit. I think the time is better spent on blogging or listening on digg, stumbleupon, or del.icio.us.
