Christians Vs. Atheists: Happiness, Joy, and Meaning
Christians find just as much joy from being resonate with truth and the laws, patterns, and designs of the universe. Further Christians just conceptualize freedom differently than people do in the secular world. They see addiction as a form of un-freedom. They see idolatry of the world as another form of un-freedom. They see dignity in others and in themselves. They see value in love, family, service, forgiveness, and even suffering. Those aren’t values that you find Dennet, Dawkins, and Hitchens supporting or really living out. Certainly, they aren’t the only atheists in the world, but they’re aren’t exactly emblematic of “what it means to be human”–except in their search for truth and love.
