How our culture and public policy should reflect on the gun shooting last Friday in Connecticut
How should the tradegy be framed? How should we think about it? What should be done?
Initially the question arises:
Should we think about it as a guns issue? Should we think about it as a mental health issue?
Don’t believe the hype…….Its really not mutually exclusive. Our media wants to frame it in only one way. Our politicicans want to frame it in only one way. Its both–there is fundamentally no getting around it–its both. Do we really think that people with his capacity or lack there of should have been anywhere near a gun? Was that really part of what freedom and the right to bear arms is about?
