What are the ethics of persuasion from the pulpit?

Do preachers have an ethics to the persuasive methods they use?

    This is interesting because I have always felt that, at times, preachers and pastor/teachers have used their position of leadership to manipulate the emotions of the church in order to achieve a result instead of truly teaching the truth if the Word.
