REDF (who is respected throughout the social enterprise & innovation space as an amazing model for social change) social entrepreneurship checklist.

The process outlined by Steve Blank for customer development is quite good. In fact, he believes (and its been historically proven that) this can be a method of securing funding 1) Concept 2) Business Plan 3) Test Hypothesis 4) Customer Proof 5) Lessons Learned 6) Series A. Steve, an experienced technology entrepreneur in Silicon Valley who has taught at Berkeley and Stanford in their respective business schools, has further laid out his checklist in both his blog and his book “Four Steps to Epiphany.” ($39 on Amazon is well spent given it has fantastic reviews and is currently ranked #4,831 in Books)
Bob Walsh at 47 hats has an short summary of the principles of the lean startup and customer development model. This provides the story of an entrepreneur, which provides a customer development checklist by Ash Maurya (You will want to read both Part I and Part II).

I tend to think this equation will (slight) be different based on:

1) Are you consumer facing or business facing?
2) What is your revenue/monetization model? (advertising, consulting, freemium subscription, or something else)
3) What percentage of sales you expect to come from the web.

Finally, Entrepreneur magazine has a short checklist for entrepreneurs who wants to be consults (although I’m curious if customer development might be earlier in their process).

Both of these (I believe) leave out SROI, social impact, and triple bottom line questions.
